Stars of all stripes lend their vocal chops to "The Masked Singer," but this singer comes straight from the House of Mouse.
Pop star Demi Lovato, who was rocketed to fame through their work on the Disney Channel, surprised panelists Ken Jeong, Nicole Scherzinger, Jenny McCarthy and Robin Thicke during the Season 10 kickoff special of the Fox reality competition series Sunday.
Lovato was disguised as the Anonymouse character for their performance, rocking the stage in a mouse costume that was styled in a fiery red tulle dress and spiky black jacket.
"I wanted to do your show because it seemed so fun," Lovato told host Nick Cannon after their identity was revealed. "And I get to sing, so it's the best of both worlds."
Lovato opened the show with a performance of the Heart power balled "What About Love."
"I started working young, but my big break came when I was able to showcase my voice. Though my future was looking bright from the outside, I struggled with demons on the inside," said Lovato in a hint about themself earlier in the show. "The more I pushed them down, the more I felt myself slipping away. I was trapped on a path of wrong decisions. And eventually, I hit rock bottom."
Although the panelists appeared shocked when Lovato's identity was revealed, Scherzinger, McCarthy and Thicke guessed Anonymouse was the "Sorry Not Sorry" singer.
"There’s only a couple of people at that caliber, Demi Lovato being one of those legends," McCarthy said, with Thicke adding, "You are one of the great voices and talents of any generation."
"The Masked Singer," which debuted in January 2019, officially returns with its 10th season Sept. 27.
Celebrity contestants will hit the stage in personas such as Donut, Anteater, Hawk and S'More. The season will also feature themed episodes including "Harry Potter Night," an Elton John tribute and "One Hit Wonders."
